On the occasion of Il giorno ha una notte piena di stelle, Giuseppe Mulas’s solo exhibition, curated by Eleonora Angiolini and on view at the Museo Paleobotanico di Martis until 8 January 2026, Ethno’s Festival Letterario presents a multi-voice conversation exploring the theme of the fairy tale and fairy-tale storytelling, entitled Micro-narratives of the Fairy Tale: Energies and Processes Beyond the Dialogue with the Fantastic.

On Sunday, 28 December 2025, at 4:00 pm, artist Giuseppe Mulas and Edoardo Mantega, author of the novel Annìle, ovvero falsa fiaba della montagna di ferro, will engage in a conversation around the power of the fantastic tale, the role of the fairy tale as a form of symbolic and collective transmission, and the creative processes that lead to the creation of a painting and a literary work. The conversation will highlight the affinities and differences between word and image, exploring how both can give shape to imaginary worlds capable of questioning and illuminating reality. Journalist Paolo Ardovino will moderate the discussion, guiding the two authors through their respective artistic practices and their exploration of the relationship between visual and narrative language.

The conversation will be introduced by Enedina Sanna, curator and voice of the podcast Contos de Maria Nudda, with a contribution dedicated to the significance of the fairy tale for the community of Martis and to the experience of Maria Nudda’s storytelling school, a central figure in the area’s oral tradition. Through the contos de foghiles, Maria Nudda transformed storytelling into a shared family and community practice, engaging her fellow townspeople and giving rise to a genuine school of storytelling, in which the art of narration was passed on to younger generations as a form of shared memory, identity and imagination.

The event is organised by the Elighe association in collaboration with the Pinacoteca Comunale di Laerru, with the support of the Autonomous Region of Sardinia, Fondazione di Sardegna, the Unione dei Comuni dell’Anglona and the Municipality of Martis.

Edoardo Mantega
(Cagliari, 1995) holds degrees in Modern Literature and Multimedia Production and works as an Italian and history teacher in secondary schools. In 2022, he won the Salvatore Mannuzzu Prize (Premio Letterario Città di Sassari) with the novella La promessa di esserci, later published in the poetry and cultural magazine Erbafoglio.

Annìle, ovvero falsa fiaba della montagna di ferro (Premio Gramsci 2023; Premio Iannas, First Work category, 2025) is his first novel.

Giuseppe Mulas (Ittiri, 1995) lives and works in Turin, where he trained as an artist at the Accademia Albertina. Il giorno ha una notte piena di stelle is his first solo exhibition in Sardinia. Mulas has exhibited in numerous institutional contexts and collaborated with several galleries that have promoted his work in Italy and abroad.

The works presented in Il giorno ha una notte piena di stelle represent a significant moment in the artist’s development and professional career, the outcome of a long and profound maturation of his painting practice. His work has been shaped by national and international experiences that have redefined his artistic choices and consolidated a practice which, much like a spiritual quest, offers access to his sensibility through the medium of painting.

Among his most recent solo exhibitions are Breathe, L.U.P.O., Milan, IT (2024); S’avreschida de su sambene, Sas istellas de su coro, Mimmo Scognamiglio, Milan, IT (2024); ALL THE STARS OF YOUR NIGHT, Galleria In Arco, Turin, IT (2022); and Sleep Well Childhood, Galleria Alberto Peola, Turin, IT (2020).

His work has also been included in group exhibitions, including Sensing Painting, Castello di Rivoli, Turin, IT (2023); Medea, Syracuse, IT (2023); Tra pennelli e immagini virtuali. La pittura italiana nei nuovi anni Venti, miart, Milan, IT (2022); 6 pittori, Museo Studio Felice Casorati, Pavarolo, Turin, IT (2021); and Artissima Unplugged, GAM – Galleria Civica di Arte Moderna e Contemporanea, Turin, IT (2020).
