RESIDENCIES
PRISMA ART PRIZE
Starting in May 2027, The Nomadic Art Institute will host two artists selected from among the finalists of the Prisma Art Prize. The artists will be invited to undertake a residency at the former elementary school in Martis.
The Prisma Art Prize is an international award founded in Rome with the aim of discovering, supporting and promoting new research in the field of contemporary painting. Open to artists of all ages and backgrounds, the prize is dedicated to painting, drawing, printmaking and two-dimensional visual arts, embracing a wide range of languages, techniques and artistic practices.
The prize is organised across four annual editions, through which Prisma carries out ongoing scouting of the international art scene. The submitted works are reviewed by curators, artists and art professionals, contributing to the development of an observatory on the transformations of painting and the different directions this medium is taking today.
The Prisma Art Prize was established to offer artists concrete opportunities for professional development, visibility and exchange. The programme includes cash prizes, artist residencies, publications, interviews, collaborations with cultural partners, and exhibition opportunities in Italy and abroad. Over the years, the prize has also developed an international network connecting artists, curators, independent spaces, institutions and cultural practitioners.
In 2026, the Prisma Art Prize reaches its twentieth edition, celebrating five years of activity. The programme will culminate in a group exhibition at Palazzo Merulana in Rome, from 5 to 8 November, featuring approximately 40 works by 30 international artists selected from more than 1,200 applications. Curated by Domenico De Chirico, with artistic direction by Marco Crispano, the exhibition will be accompanied by a catalogue and a public programme of guided tours, talks, presentations and events dedicated to contemporary art.
